ABOUT

About

Green Light Dance Company was recently established in 2021 by experienced dance artist Suzannah McCreight. This new Belfast-based company will support the professional development of local dance artists while promoting the appreciation of contemporary dance in the wider community.

Having worked as a dancer, choreographer, rehearsal director, dance teacher and college/university lecturer, Suzannah now shares her expertise and passion for dance through this company that will promote her choreography, connect with local independent artists and provide classes to people of all ages and abilities.

Green Light Dance Company is established as a community interest company (CIC) to serve the community through dance.

To see examples and get a flavour of Suzannah's previous choreographic work, see her showreel from a few years ago.

New Production! ...Double Bill

We are delighted to be producing a double bill of contemporary dance involving new choreography by Helen Hall and a reworking of the trio 'Allies' by Suzannah McCreight. The production will launch at Crescent Arts Centre on Novemeber 4th 2023. It has been made possible with support from Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Belfast City Council as well as production support from Crescent Arts Centre. The show will be included under the promotional banner of the Belfast International Arts Festival.

Dance for wellness

We have been involved with Utility Street men's hostel offering movement and relaxation classes on a 'Keys to Life' programme. The men found it helped them to unwind and relax, which is a challenge for many of them. This has been a reminder that both activity and rest are important in movement and general wellness.

Zoom classes

Last year, adult movement exploration classes were held on Tuesday evenings at 8pm - 9pm starting 2nd November. Professional/ advanced-level contemporary dance ran on Thursday mornings. We are looking at how and where to run in person classes and possibly more on zoom. Let us know if interested.

Company  Launch!

Having worked in Northern Ireland as an independent artist for over 15 years, Suzannah McCreight launches Green Light Dance Company in October 2021 to help improve the ecology for dance in Northern Ireland whilst providing a platform for her own work. Green Light Dance Company hopes to both ignite and nurture an appreciation for dance in people from all walks of life. Encouraging people to 'go for it' in dance is something that will benefit enthusiasts of all experience levels.
